Open Position for a Communications and Marketing Specialist
Job Description:
The Communications and Marketing Specialist will be responsible for developing communication strategies with the goal to recruit more quality charter schools and to elevate the work of the Alabama Charter School Commission and the success of existing charter schools to various stakeholders in Alabama.
Essential Functions:
Develop communications plan. |
Develop social media strategies |
Generate a positive image for both the Charter School Commission and its charter schools. |
Create engaging and appropriate content on social media.

Interact in a positive matter in writing with education partners and stakeholders to provide factual information and to keep the APCSC informed on matters related to education policy; |
Craft and publish social media posts.
|
Maintain and update the APCSC Website and other utilized online platforms. |
Manage and safeguard social accounts |
Collaborate with other staff |
Analyze social data.
|
Collaborate with other staff.
|
Remain up to date on current issues |
Inform supervisor on any issues that may arise.
|
Other duties as assigned |
Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required.
|
Be highly organized with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes |
Communication and marketing experience, preferably with an education focus |
Proficiency in research, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data |
Experience and expertise with website maintenance and social media is required |
Excellent Computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel), and database management skills |
Ability to work effectively under pressure.

Motivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment |
Excellent writing and verbal skills |
Experience should demonstrate a proven track record in communications and marketing. |
Preferred Skills:
Three to five years of experience in communications and marketing |
A proven record in communications with certifiable references.

Experience working with various stakeholders

Knowledge of legislative process.

Previous website management |
Previous social media campaigns.
